Best Group Text Service: Six Options Compared by Price and Buyer Type

Last materially reviewed 2026-10-03

Quick answerThe best group text service depends on the buyer: TXT180 for the lowest credit-plan price ($24.95 for 500 texts), SimpleTexting for teams, Flocknote for churches, EZ Texting for Canada and payment links.

The best group text service depends on who is sending

There is no single best group text service, and the same is true of the best mass text service. The six below all send one message to a list of opted-in people, but they differ on price, seats and extras. On published prices, TXT180 is the lowest-priced credit plan, SimpleTexting includes three user seats, Flocknote is the only one with unlimited standard texts, and EZ Texting lists AI drafting, a team inbox and payment links on every plan.

One clarification first. If you want a conversation among a dozen people who all know each other, a phone group chat does that at no extra cost. A group text service is for one-way announcements to a list. The difference is set out in group chat or broadcast.

What the prices look like at 1,000 and 5,000 texts a month

Published monthly-billing prices at two volumes, as read on 3 October 2026
Service1,000 texts5,000 texts
TXT180$39.95$129.95
SimpleTexting$49; $59 with a local numberNo 5,000 tier; 7,500 credits is $229, or $239 with a local number
Textedly$49$169
SlickText$49$169

TXT180 is the lowest of these four at both volumes. EZ Texting is left out of this table because its plans all include 500 credits and the rest is bought as overage or as bundles whose prices appear only at checkout. At the published $0.04 overage rate, 1,000 texts on Launch comes to $50 with the Telecom Fee. Flocknote is left out because it does not charge by volume. Remember that a picture message uses three credits on TXT180, EZ Texting, SimpleTexting and SlickText.

Where TXT180 fits and where it does not

TXT180 fits a sender who wants plain SMS announcements to a US list at a predictable price. Its pricing page lists a dedicated number, unlimited keywords, unlimited contacts and groups, and incoming SMS at no charge on every plan. The trial is 15 days with 50 messages and no card.

It does not fit a team that needs Canada, weekend support or several included seats. Its FAQ gives 160 characters as the SMS limit, so long notices need MMS at three credits or another service. Its terms also state that it is not to be used as an emergency alert system. A fuller assessment is in the TXT180 review.

A recommendation for each type of buyer

  • Club, school office or small business with one sender: TXT180.
  • Office team of three: SimpleTexting.
  • Church of any size that wants email and giving as well: Flocknote. Church that wants texting only: compare using mass text services for churches.
  • Registered nonprofit: SlickText or SimpleTexting for their published discounts.
  • Sender with Canadian contacts or a need for payment links: EZ Texting.
  • Sender of long messages: Textedly.

Before you commit to any of them, run a small test with real recipients. The pilot plan shows how.
