Which group texting services publish a nonprofit discount
Of the five group texting services checked for nonprofits on 3 October 2026, two state a nonprofit discount on their own pricing pages. SlickText says eligible nonprofits get 20% off any standard plan, activated through its sales team. SimpleTexting says nonprofits, churches and other tax-exempt organizations get 15% off any monthly plan. The pricing pages of TXT180, EZ Texting and Textedly do not mention a nonprofit discount, so none is assumed here.
| Service | Entry plan | List price | Published nonprofit discount | Users |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| SlickText | 500 credits | $29 a month | 20% off standard plans: $23.20 | Team members can be added; cost not stated |
| SimpleTexting | 500 credits | $29 a month; $10 more for a local number | 15% off monthly plans: $24.65 for the plan | Three included; $20 a month per extra |
| TXT180 | 500 credits | $24.95 a month, or $18.49 billed annually | None stated | Sub-user logins listed as a feature |
| EZ Texting Launch | 500 credits | $25 a month plus $5 Telecom Fee | None stated | One included; $10 a month per extra |
| Textedly Basic | 500 messages | $29 a month | None stated | $10 a month per teammate |
SimpleTexting's page does not say whether the 15% also applies to the $10 number fee, so the discounted figure above covers the plan only. SlickText and SimpleTexting both bill carrier fees on top.
The job a nonprofit needs texting to do
Typical nonprofit texts are short, time-bound notices to people who asked for them: volunteer shift reminders, event logistics, a fundraising deadline, a thank-you after a campaign. Two points deserve attention. If several staff and volunteers share the account, seats matter. And consent comes first: the CTIA's messaging guidance names nonprofit organizations among the senders expected to get consent before texting, and expects express written consent for marketing messages. It does not say how a fundraising appeal is classed, so the cautious course is written consent before sending one. This is general information, not legal advice. Check your sign-up forms against the consent readiness guide before importing a donor list.
If most of your contact with supporters is longer updates, texting may be the wrong channel for it. See email or SMS.
A worked example: 300 supporters, three texts a month
That is 900 credits, so each service needs its 1,000-text tier or the entry plan plus overage. On published monthly prices:
- SlickText: $49 less 20% is $39.20, plus carrier fees.
- TXT180: $39.95 month-to-month, or $29.95 a month billed annually.
- EZ Texting Launch: $25, plus the $5 fee, plus 400 extra credits at $0.04 ($16), which is $46.
- Textedly Bronze: $49.
- SimpleTexting: $49 less 15% is $41.65, plus $10 for a local number, which is $51.65 before carrier fees. With a toll-free number it stays at $41.65.
On monthly billing, SlickText with its nonprofit discount comes out 75 cents below TXT180 before carrier fees are added. On annual billing, TXT180 at $29.95 a month is the lowest figure that could be confirmed, because SlickText's yearly price is not shown in its page text. The honest reading is that the two are close, and the discount alone should not decide it.
Where TXT180 fits a nonprofit and where it does not
TXT180 fits a small nonprofit with one coordinator, a US-only list and a need for plain SMS. Useful features from its own pages: unlimited keywords, so each program or event can have its own opt-in word; a hosted sign-up form for groups without a website; and extra credit bundles at $0.04 a credit that do not expire while the account is active, which suits a busy campaign month followed by quiet ones.
It does not fit a nonprofit that wants a donation link product built in. EZ Texting lists text-to-donate links on every plan. It also does not fit a team that needs weekend support, since TXT180's support page lists weekday hours only. SimpleTexting states live support seven days a week.
Which service to choose by type of nonprofit
- One coordinator, tight budget, willing to pay yearly: TXT180 at $18.49 a month billed annually for 500 credits. A refund example in TXT180's terms uses a $215.40 annual prepayment, where 12 times $18.49 is $221.88, so confirm the annual total at checkout.
- Registered nonprofit paying month to month: ask SlickText to apply the 20% discount and compare against TXT180 at your volume.
- Three or more staff answering replies: SimpleTexting, because three seats are included. Size the reply work first with the reply workload guide.
- Fundraising by text with payment links: EZ Texting.
- A faith-based nonprofit that also needs email and giving: see mass text services for churches, where Flocknote is covered.
